Exploring Acrylics as Watercolor
While traveling extensively
from New England to California this summer, Kris has been
working with acrylics, both on canvas and watercolor paper. By
treating acrylics as watercolor, she can achieve the same ethereal
lighting of a watercolor painting, as a result of transparent layerings. At the same time, acrylics permit her to
incorporate the more vibrant colors and the richer textures and
blending ability normally associated with oils. Her three
newest paintings are
Trout Run (acrylic on canvas),
From Emma's Garden
(acrylic on watercolor paper), and
On Mrs.
Jenning's Sideboard (acrylic on watercolor paper). In
case you were wondering, Kris is an avid fan of Jane Austen novels,
and the florals are named after two of Jane Austen's more
colorful characters.
