Wyler Art Studio News: December 2007

Two new paintings this month

A Steady Gaze, completed in December 2007, is Kristine Wyler's latest work.  She continues to work with oil on board and uses special finishing techniques that give this painting an ultra-smooth high gloss.  Using the same finishing techniques, Kris has also produced a tranquil seascape entitled Periwinkle Evening.  Both paintings begin with a full-value graphite drawing.

Understanding Color features four Kristine Wyler paintings

Marcia Mose's latest book, Understanding Color: creative techniques in watercolor, recently published by Sterling Publishing Company, features four of Kris's watercolor paintings.  Three paintings, Serenity, Calla Lilies, and Fallen Tulips, are used as examples in a discussion of color techniques in floral paintings.   Kristine's portrati, Rosalie, is preseneted as an example of the subtle mix of colors for skin tones in portraits.

As the Spirit Moves continues

Poulton are on display at Stark State college, in a show entitled As the Spirit Moves until December 14, 2007.  Tom Wachunas of the Jackson Observer-Reporter wrote an insightful review of the show.  The show is on the second floor of the Student Center, located at Stark State College, 6200 Frank Avenue, Canton, Ohio 44702.  Gallery Hours are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.  The gallery is closed on Sunday.
