Wyler Art Studio News: April 2009Kristine Wyler's latest painting is Secrets, a 20" x 16" oil painting on board. In it Kris depicts two horses on a Hawaiian Ranch. Kris labored long on this painting to create the rich, velvety texture and underlying musculature of the horses' faces, as they nuzzle one another and share their "secrets". Watermedia Wizards will open at Kent State Stark Campus's Gallery 6000, Monday, April 13th, with a public reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The show will run through June 30th and will feature a number of paintings by Kristine Wyler, including Break of Dawn, Firedance, Through the Eye of the Needle, and Skywalkers. Be sure to read Tom Wachunas's review of Watermedia Wizards. Kris will also be displaying work at The Canton Artist League's Spring Show at the Canton Museum of Art, May 21-June 21. The Opening Reception for this show will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 6-8 p.m., and the public is invited. This summer, Kris will be teaching two art classes at Malone College. Watercolor for Art Teachers will be offered June 22-26. Students will learn to do "pours," fix watercolor mistakes, and if weather permits, they will try plein air painting. Acrylic Painting Projects for Art Teachers will be offered July 6-10, and will offer the student experience with a variety of acrylic paints, gels, textures, mediums and finishes.
